MELINDA WILSON
Curie High School/International Award-Winning Teacher/Choreographer Dance Artistic Director/ Teacher/International Choreographer
Wilson holds a M.Ed. from DePaul University and an M.A. from the University of Illinois with additional coursework at Northwestern University. She has trained internationally in Tel-Aviv, London and Paris and teaches at Chicago Movement Collective, Hyde Park School of Dance and CPS. Awards include 2018 Top 50 Global Teacher Award (Varkey Foundation), Golden Apple Award, IAHPERD 2017 Teacher of the Year, 2017 SHAPE National Dance Teacher of the Year, Barcelona Dance Grand Prix International Choreography Award and Danza Livorno, Italy International Choreographer Award. International Publication - TES Magazine (UK) Wilson is currently the education liaison and choreographer for Her Story Theatre Company, and educational outreach liaison for Illinois Democracy Schools and the American Writers Museum. Wilson and her students can be seen in 97 markets across the United States on ABC-TV for the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival 2021 and was just recently seen on WGN-TV during the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago.
