This session will familiarize participants with enduring themes within the new graphic novel "No Small Plans" and provide strategies for using it to support teaching and learning in the classroom. Ideal for grades 5–10, "No Small Plans" follows the neighborhood adventures of young people in Chicago's past (1928), present (2017), and future (2211) as they wrestle with what it takes to design the city they want, need and deserve. The graphic novel supports mandated Illinois State Civics Education requirements and local and national learning standards.
